Sophie Lightfoot and Beaver
No matter how excited and ready you are to leave home, there are always going to be hurdles in an otherwise incredible journey - as your welfare reps, we are here to make those jumps that little bit easier! With big smiles, comforting shoulders and hearts filled with welfare love, we will be with you every step of the way! We look forward to supporting you with sugar-filled welfare treats, steaming cups of tea and coffee and a chat at the end of a hard day! Come and find us in the Danson Room, or contact us on facebook, by email, or via our mobiles (details can be found on posters around college).
This year our main initiative is focused on the day-to-day welfare of each and everyone of you! That is to say, we're not just here for when you have a problem, we're also here for when you just fancy a chat and a nice cup of tea!
Furthermore this year we're planning to introduce to St Anne's the Chocolate Fairy - so if you spot someone who seems to be having a bad day, you can easily turn their smile upside down with a scrumptious treat (made that much more delicious because they didn't have to trek all that way into town to get it)!
The weekends come along with the challenging question, "How am I supposed to eat when hall's not open?" Well to combat this, we are starting up a new weekend cooking social. Come along for good food, good company and bucket-loads of welfare love!
With weekly welfare teas in the Danson Room and welfare walks around the green-er areas of Oxford, there's never any reason to be blue...unless you're out to support the Dark Blues that is anyway!
As YOUR Welfare Reps, we are here to make sure your experience in Oxford is the very best it can be! If you have any problem, no matter how big or small, we are here to help. Whilst our emails, facebook posts and regular events are filled with light-hearted jokes and packed with welfare love, there is also a more calm and sensible side to our job; along with our team of trained Peer Supporters (rigorously trained by the University Counselling Service) we are always here to listen. If it's an academic problem that's getting you down, or whether it be related to friendships, relationships or family, we can offer a confidential, informal and non-judgemental listening service. Details of how to contact the St Anne's Peer Supporters, and in fact the full College Welfare Team including related members of staff, can be found on the posters distributed throughout college and (hopefully!) in your kitchens.
