OUSU report

Hey everyone, I’m the OUSU rep for this year, and I’ll be updating you all of goings on to make sure you’re all informed and aware of what OUSU actually does. Please drop me an email if you want to get involved or have any questions – OUSU is a student union to represent you.

Report from 1st OUSU council meeting of term:

Today we passed the motion opposing the Vice Chancellor’s recent comments which outlined his support in encouraging Oxford to charge £16,000 tuition fees. This was proposed and passed in our JCR on Sunday. There were also reports from the president and committee about the work they’d been doing, which you can find here.

If anyone wants to get involved in OUSU, please do! Meetings are fortnightly, so just let me know if you want to come along to speak, vote or propose a motion :-)

Get involved with OUSU campaigns!

OUSU are running some great campaigns which are having a real noticeable impact on student life. If you’re interested in finding out more about any of the following campaigns let me know and I’ll find someone who can help!

·         Campaign for Racial Awareness and Equality

·         Disabled Students campaign

·         Environment & Ethics campaign

·         International students’ campaign

·         It Happens Here (sexual abuse awareness campaign)

·         LGBTQ campaign

·         Living Wage campaign

·         Mind your Head (mental health awareness campaign)

·         Target Schools (access & outreach campaign)

·         Women’s campaign

I’m also currently planning to co-host some college events with some of these campaigns. Please let me know if you’re interested in helping out!
